Discuss how to and whether you should renovate your lawn

Maybe, but it shouldn't. You've blocked the production of an amino acid in the plant. Growth in spring is much faster than fall regardless. So far, it works well in my own lawn...but your mileage may differ, of course.

I have been wondering that myself. Everything said that tenacity would not control poa in the spring because it would go so fast and out grow the bleaching. If one is fertilizing heavy in fall, would that make the plant out grow the bleaching?

Top growth is slower in the fall (I think because the days are shorter). Many of us were able to control poa in the spring with Tenacity; the studies never said it didn't work, it just wasn't as effective. It was something like 80% control in the fall and 65% in the spring. What that didn't take into account was that if you waited until the fall your poa infestation could be 100% bigger as it spreads (and seeds), so that 15% would be meaningless. Most of the studies didn't take into account a pre-M barrier either. Poa control is a multi-season/year attack, each season you can get it reduced greatly increases your success. So getting rid of 50% of it now with your Tenacity will make next spring that much better, etc. etc.

Well my chickweed is def turning white after yesterday's app. As well as some broadleafs too. I don't have any pics yet as I have been painting the exterior of my house and have a whole lot of painting left to do. I'll be glad when I hit the lotto and can contract all of this out lol. I'm sorry yes honey I'll get off the lawn site and continue whatever it was you had me doing.
Thanks in Advance,

James

Sorry for the delay. Been super busy around the house, and to top it off our heat pump condensor fan motor/capacitor took a dump so I had to have that replaced and I was outside with my neighbor last night and tonight working on it. She owns a heating/cooling business which is nice so it didnt cost me a arm and a leg just a arm this time around!!

Here is Day 65 pictures. The Heck Strips are still doing horrible but some of the bare spots in the grass are showing signs of filling in. The spot by the evergreens is doing little better. You can also see the chickweed and some broadleafs are taking a beating from the Tenacity. I have yet to do a 3rd app yet. Not sure if its too late in the year.

Heres part of the heckstrip right on the property line I kinda sprayed a little wide onto his weeds. You can see the Tenacity turning it white pretty good

so what's your game plan for the bare soil. i don't think letting it alone would close those gaps during the next season.

I would plug all the good grass you have in the heck strips into the main lawn now
I then dormant seed just the strips or big areas.

I would use plugs for the bare areas just before top growth starts and then put down a strong pre-M barrier. There is so much weed pressure in that soil I'd be afraid of not having a barrier down in the spring and best case you'll have germination in mid-late May. With plugs you'll have a few inches of spread by then of mature grass that can withstand the summer.

There is plenty of good grass to work with.

FWIW I called my local utility office (I'm in a small town who has their own utilities) about my Reno. I stated I was water a lot more then usual because of trying to establish a newly seeded lawn. She stated that we already get a credit for watering during June, July Aug. I said OK is there credit available for earlier/later months. She said yes just call in after you received that months invoice and we'll credit you. I just called and got a huge credit on my sewer bill which majorly helped with the water bill. I was thrilled they offered this. I even told her I was going to be water next year to fix spots that didnt work and she said OK just call back in after every invoice and we'll fix it. Sweet!
