How's your reno doing as we jump into December?
So far, so good here. Awesome color. I have something that looks like rust on the side of the house, and I have areas that need to fill in here and there, but the color across the front yard is making up for the inconsistencies elsewhere.

My reno is doing great. Color and thickness is by far the best I've ever had in December. Weather just turned here in STL and haven't gotten the winterizer down yet so I'm trying to find the best time to squeeze it in. I put a weak app of iron down last week and didn't see a lot. I have some ferrous sulfate on the way and thinking about applying it when it arrives. Overall, I'm very happy with how the reno went. Can't wait for spring!!

Here is a photo of my house from a distance. I wanted to include some of the neighboring lawns for comparison sake. My brother's lawn is the closest. I included a bit of his property since his boasting about his landscaping prowess is what encouraged me to renovate.

Re: How's your reno doing as we jump into December?
While we were putting up Xmas lights yesterday, a neighbor stopped to tell us we had the nicest lawn in the neighborhood "by far" . . . that's music to a renovator's ears. That was followed up by a kid, probably 12 years old, who complimented us on how nice and soft our grass is. I guess that means he's been walking through it (
), but I'll still take the compliment.
So I guess it's doing pretty well! I still have a bad patch next to my front entrance and some chickweed and ground ivy to deal with, but most of it is looking great.

Re: How's your reno doing as we jump into December?
Reno is doing great. Never imagined having a lawn this green in December. Crazy. I have pounded the lawn w/ Bonide iron spray over the last week or so. It makes quite a splash, and I haven't seen the effects from yesterday's large dose (my last for the year) .
In comparison to having done a reno last year with different elite cultivars (and no iron spray), the only negative to this year's dark turf (which is a positive) is spotting the garbage Poa w/ease. It's hideous but fortunately I only have a few small spots, but it does make for easy target practice next year with more Tenacity, etc. There was no visible evidence of any Poa last year, but I think I just could not point it out since the lawn is so much darker this go around.
Rutgers, your brother must be proud. That looks great. You can really feel the accomplishment when you compare it to your neighbors, and yes, your family's.
Here's a pic I snapped from yesterday (Sunday). The pic was taken to show "the decorations".

Re: How's your reno doing as we jump into December?
My renovation is slightly losing some color. Still darker then the neighbors including the landscaper trying to convince me to take his advice (looking at his lawn...I'll stick to bestlawn advice...thank you). I still got a lot of work to do getting rid of those weeds and closing holes. So I'm not totally satisfied, but I knew that it will probably take till next fall to be very satisfied. My wife thinks it's nice already.
Rutgers: Still a beautiful green. Great job.
NJDave: I was curious at what height that grass is cut at? Looks great.

I am cutting at 2"
Your lawn is light years ahead of what it was last Fall and earlier this year. Next fall it will look incredible while being more established. If your wife is satisfied, that's all you need.

NJDave, that is awesome! I used Bonide, too. My shipment of iron sulfate came in a few days later. I've tried the iron sulfate once. I was really happy with the Bonide.

Thanks. Yeah, I have been pleased with the Bonide. I was skeptical to use one of the handheld 2.0g sprayers with it due to consistency, but I am glad I did.
I read yours and the other iron threads in the other forum. I will most definitely experiment with the big guns (ferrous ammonium sulfate) next year.

So far, very pleased with the results. Waiting on the Bondie I ordered to arrive to help with the tenacity whitening. Soil temp's here are still around 58. Thinking about 1 more urea feeding before winterizing. The brown spots in the upper part of the lawn have been filling in since I took this picture.

I would put down another drop of urea before winterizing. You should have some time considering us here up north are just getting to that time. It will help give the lawn an extra boost to spread into those areas of undesirables that you killed off.
That Tenacity is some amazing stuff, isn't it.
Looking good!! The Bonide will definitely add some dark color to it as well. You have time for a few apps too

I can't wait to see how your lawn holds up next summer. (I've struggled with my patch of grass) Please don't be a stranger.
It looks great and I agree with NJDave. Hit it now and winterize in a few weeks when the soil temps call for it.

I love Tenacity!
That stuff took out the chickweed and anything else in it's way. Bonide should be here Saturday so I will put that and Urea down then. I will update my pic's then. Hopefully it will be alot greener.

Re: How's your reno doing as we jump into December?
I dropped Milorganite for the 3rd time early this month.... Then, we got some pretty good rain through this month too....
I was out in the lawn at lunch yesterday afternoon - in the sun....
I noticed lots of little, thin, canoe shape blades of grass poking out through the Fescue....
We Have KBG! It appears to be growing just fine....
Thanks
