Cutting Edge Grass
Anyone know anything about this grass?

We're getting a 25lb bag sent to us for a test plot. Little skeptical of it surviving in 100+ degree heat.

When you get it, please post the cultivars listed on the tag. The marketing materials seem almost too good to be true. They appear to have a variety of blends and they say they were tested by ntep but the marketing almost makes it seem like miracle grass.

Will do. I think we have a spot we can try it in that is between two buildings. It'll get partial sun, but for the most part it is protected by buildings.

I don't know policy about posting links to other forums, but I googled it and there was a thread on another forum where a sales rep actually joined the conversation.
Still sounded vague and too good to be true.

Ummmm, I'm going to be doing a wee bit of research tonight, methinks...
Initial research is showing all of this to be leading to a Janitorial Services company in Florida.

That'd be interesting. It really does sound way too good to be true.

It sounds like that ad on the back of Parade magazine for zoysia.

I'll bet it's a mix of various fine fescues. That's what most of the no-mow/low maintenance seeds are.

Re: Cutting Edge Grass
If you dont have to water it, fertilize it, or cut it.........why even have it, all the fun of actually growing it is stripped away........not unlike those who have plastic plants in their homes.

Re: Cutting Edge Grass
Well at least I'm getting it for free and can do a test plot of it. I'll report it all here.
But I'm doubting it being able to grow in sun here.

They do state that if it's in full sun, south of Mason-Dixon that it will have to be watered. Watered pretty much like any other grass seed until it gets established and still watered after it's established if there is no rainfall, just not nearly as frequently as other grass. Not sure it would have held up in Texas this past summer! If it looks good throughout the year and has good wear tolerance with minimal care, it would be a great option for folks who want something that looks decent and provides a good play area for kids and pets.

Re: Cutting Edge Grass
Any update on this? Did you get the bag and post the cultivars?

Re: Cutting Edge Grass
I suppose if you were careful and picked cultivars based on "Living Groundcover" and "Canopy Height" statistics - you might end up with a blend that didn't take as much mowing.... I have some unmowed Fescue clumps outside the "Yard" area that have pretty well stayed at 3" tall for 3-years now....
I suppose you gotta give it to them for trying...
Thanks
