I was was curious about how much time you spend tending your lawn and garden areas. In April we started from scratch/bare soil in 90% of the back yard (3000 sq ft). I am putting in around one hour (or more) a day doing various things like amending flowering beds, mowing the lawn, watering veggies, trimming trees (and even cutting one down), moving established plants and more.

Most of you have established landscapes, how much time do you spend taking care of it?

My landscape is ever changing. I started out with an almost blank canvas (previous owners had no care for landscaping) and have been working on it for a little over two years. During this time of year and since about mid-march, I spend an average of 2 to 3 hours a day in my yard. On my days off, I'm out almost all day sometimes. And, I only have about 1/4 acre. I just love to be working in the yard.

Probably about forty hours a week between lawn and gardens, but only five hours a week or so of that is actually the gardens. I do a lot more out there than I strictly-speaking have to.

I spend about two hours a week total. Less when it's hot and dry and I don't have to mow as often.
