Wood Pellets
Any thoughts about using wood pellets on my lawn? I have a wood pellet stove, and get about 3 tons delivered every fall for heat. I always end up with 1-20 bags left over at the end of the heating season. While I save them, every year 2-5 bags end up damaged, so the pellets start going back to sawdust. Would spreading this on the lawn help with OM %, without affecting it negatively in some way?

Re: Wood Pellets
They'd add organic matter and would be fine to spread on the lawn. If you wanted to till them in (for example in the garden) you'd need to add a nitrogen source to help them break down, but they're fine on the surface

Re: Wood Pellets
Not sure how much difference it makes, but wood stove pellets are usually made out of hardwood VS the softwood{pine} pellets used for horse stalls that many here have experimented with this season.
