What do you think of these prices?
I'm planning to go mostly organic after my reno, and in light of the thread below on milorganite changes I got some prices from a local coop. This is what he tells me a 50# bag would cost:
Soybean Meal $15.55
Alfalfa Meal $14.90
Dry Molasses $15.20
Urea $18.25
I've never bought any of the above products but I've seen them all incorporated into semi-organic lawncare routines and was curious how these prices compared to what others are paying. Obviously the SBM and AM would be the products I'd be using more often than anything.
The guy said they could order other products (corn meal and corn gluten meal were two things I had asked about) but didn't give a price on those.

Re: What do you think of these prices?
I think the SBM is actually a good price. I pay about $18 or $19 a bag (50 lb.) and that is after shopping around. And for the amount of N you get in the bag, it's a smoking deal next to alfalfa.
A lot of this depends on your location, to be honest. Like, I couldn't tell you what a good price on corn meal is because I can't find the damn stuff at any feed stores in the Phoenix area.

It's so completely automatic to think in terms of NPK when you're moving from synthetics to organics, but fight the urge to think of it that way.
I could put down SBM until the cows come home, and I'd never get the growth burst that I get with Alfalfa (the only typical natural source of Triacontanol). I will never get the growth of Trichoderma from Urea.
Everything has its place...

Gave20, Where are you getting SBM at that price? That might be worth a trip for me.

My momma told me, "You'd better shop around."
Yeah, no matter how much shopping around I did, I'd never get it for that around here!

Oesterlings feed mill on 422 just outside of Fenelton.
Morph I would think outside of Lancaster you'd have better prices than me. I was paying more in the spring but it's since come down.
Some of you ought to call your local Farm Service Agency office. They should know local farmers or feed mills that have good prices. Typically the local CED, manager, is a farmer themselves and can help.
