Spider explosion
I am seeing a massive increase in the number of little baby spiders all over my dead lawn. I water, and they come jumping out of the was-a-lawn from everywhere. There's gotta be a dozen spiders for every 10 sq. ft. I was watering out front and came back in the garage and there was a huge spider sitting in there, so I swept it outside. I'm guessing it was the momma spider for the babies out front, it was gigantic, like 6" around. I'm not sure where the momma spider is for the babies out back. It would be nice if she would pack up her babies and move to a new neighborhood.
I really dislike spiders. They freak me out. I would prefer if they found a new home. However, are they beneficial to the lawn? They won't eat all the earthworms right? If they will help the lawn, then I will leave them alone, even though I hate them. Ick.

Re: Spider explosion
Half of this household really dislikes spiders, too (not me). As in, detests spiders. As in hunts them down inside the house.
As long as the spiders in question aren't brown recluse or something like that, they're probably pretty harmless to you. The six incher sounds like a wolf spider--again, no great danger.
They're going after something in the lawn, which is most likely a good thing as it's probably something you don't want. It's not earthworms, though.
I'd ignore them unless you absolutely are at the gross-out point.

You must have a large population of whatever it is they are eating.
Why is your lawn dead?
