Soybean smells ;)
I missed my July 4 application of Soybean, so I doubled it up with an early dose (my normal Labor Day application) this weekend.
We got a bit of rain yesterday. Wow. Just Wow. It really, really smells today (lol)

Re: Soybean smells ;)
Yes, yes it does.
I ducked out between showers yesterday early and dropped about 14 per K yesterday. No scent as the level's too low, but there's already fungi covering it in the places where I have P. annua knockouts.
I'll have a slight scent building as I feed again in 2 weeks...

Why does it have to smell so bad?
I have a love hate relationship with SBM. I love how easy it is to spread and how it disappears on the yard. Love all the protein and the bang for the buck. I hate how it smells. The smell is even worse when it gets wet. It takes so little to smell so fowl too. I applied 12 lbs per 1000 SF the other day. Had a decent rain shower which caused the tempuratures to drop. Opened up the house and left the widnows open over night. I went downstairs the next morning and first thought someone barfed, had a bunch of kids down there the night before. The basement windows are only a few inches above grade. The cold air must of settled down there. Yuck, please pass the Febreeze.

Re: Soybean smells ;)
Pretty much. I dropped 100 pounds last Sunday as my normal early fall two-week feeding. The scent in the slight rain we're getting from Earl is rather whiffy.

That reminds me of a time when I applied Corn Gluten Meal. The wife got home from work, stepped out of the car, sniffed and said “smells … organic.”
