skunks!
Hi everyone, not sure which section this question should be in but I'm in need of some help and going to ask here anyway!
I live in San Antonio and have Tif Bermuda, which was looking fairly fabulous despite our drought. I water properly, mow as low as I can as often as I can, fertilize as much as I can afford with SBM, and haven't had too many spots which have gone dormant from the heat. My issue is SKUNKS!
In a matter of one week, my front yard has been severly damaged by this little @#$%. I know it's a skunk because I caught it in the yard 4 times last week in the very early morning hours. (I also know because it got my 2 yellow labs in the face last Saturday night, in the backyard.) Makes me want to cry (sorry for being girlie here) for all the hard work I've put into the yard.
So, do I have a potential grub issue? I mean, I can't yank up the grass no matter how hard I try, and haven't really seen any grubs when digging around. But it's eating something. I have a ton of worms, though. I don't want to kill anything beneficial, but I need to solve this problem before the lawn is completely destroyed. I've heard mothballs don't really deter, and I don't really want to leave ammonia-soaked rags out to burn on the lawn. Wish I could, and believe me I would, but I can't sit out front with a 2 in my liberal neighborhood, so any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer!

Re: skunks!
Skunks like worms, so that's a distinct possibility.
I presume that's a 22. Come to my liberal neighborhood, we'll talk hardware that goes bang.
I also have a skunk digging here and there for worms. I find that Milorganite deters them a little bit, but for the most part there's no good way to get rid of them that doesn't involve risking getting sprayed or shooting them, which I'd rather not do.

Re: skunks!
Oops...yes, that was .22 at one time.
Yeah, I've certainly had enough of the spray myself (the whole house smells like it because of the poor dogs). I wish that it was just "here and there" in my yard, but it's really much worse than that. It literally looks like someone went to town on the yard with an aerator until there was barely any space between the holes. I guess I should feel lucky that I have bermuda, but it's the end of the hot season here, so I just hope it will recover at some point. In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to look into Milorganite. Have to find some...never used it before. Thanks!

A nice brake barrel pellet rifle w/ scope red dot night vision and heavy weight pellet. Beeman, or Gamo. I've taken out ground hogs with a good head shot. A skunk is not nearly as tough. If you can get resonably close. Otherwise a trap, throw a tarp over the cage when you get close.
