Organic KBG in Nashville, TN
I've been giving it the obligatory 2" of precipitation every week, typically in (1" * 2) or (0.75" * 3) intervals based on the heat however for food and care, she's been purely organic since seeding. Between all the used-coffee grounds and the milorganite my lawn smells somewhere between a cappuccino and a flintstone vitamin, lol...

Here's the daily harvest of my only weed problem. I haven't positively identified them yet, but I know they're not ink-caps since they don't bruise-black when damaged. Either way, they've been fruiting for over a month and the lawn shows no signs of stress from it so I'm not worried about having to eliminate them.

If KBG will grow in Nashville, St. Louis should be a snap...

I'm interested to see how it holds up. My yard is already stressed.

My yard isn't looking too bad. It has been 90 degrees here for the last 6 days with no rain. My yard finally showed some stress today so it is getting water. I don't have an irrigation system yet, so it is going on with a hose end sprinkler. I'll be able to get 1/2" down today and another 1/2" tomorrow. This is on a first summer common bluegrass yard.

Okay. I believe it is time to review the nominees for the Bestlawn.info showcase of lawns, 2011.
That looks amazing, arjo_reich! Do you really mow it to 5 inches?
Looks like your neighbors let their common bermuda go to seed - or am I seeing things?

I cut at 6" to a height of approximately 4.5". I actually had to go out and buy a new mower (Troy-Bilt) to have a high enough deck to keep it that long..but I need it. In addition to the long blades providing a deeper canopy to keep the crowns from drying out during the hottest part of the day the shade also helps prevent the neighbors weeds from taking root, literally. Also, along with the long grass I should have a rather deep, well-developed root system should the city turn on me and issue watering-restrictions this summer.

No, that's precisely what it is. It took me several years of napalming my lawn to eradicate it and every breeze that blow brings forth it's demon seed trying to establish root in my lawn again. So far, keeping my lawn long and healthy has kept me lucky but it's only a matter of time...

The normal recommendation for KBG is 3.5 inches. Thank you for bucking the trend and showing us the difference. I like it.
There is a curbing process where they cut a trench and fill it with concrete all at once. If it is 6 inches deep and wide, it should stop bermuda. It would not stop zoysia but bermuda is not as deep - at least not mine.

That mystery weed looks like dried out mushrooms.
Great looking lawn; I'm impressed with it so far south.

Looks fantastic! At your mowing height I wonder if you could cut back from 2 inches of water per week without affecting quality?
