Milorganite

Postby jayjay99 » April 12th, 2011, 2:09 pm

Hi All,

A quick question about Milorganite. The coverage for 1 bag is 2200 sq feet. My lawn is 1500 sq ft. If i put the whole bag is it better or should I just conserve the rest for another feeding? I mean, really, there won't be much left in the bag. Any input?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
J

Did they change the coverage area of a bag from 2500 to 2200?

Thanks,
J

Looks like it's still 2500.
As long as the Microbes are eating they wont be able to tell the difference - it'll all disappear.

It's because they are short changing the Canadians, sorry J!

Ha!

But yes, just drop the whole thing. Most of us completely ignore the bag rate. On my property, it would be 2.7 bags or so. I usually drop either 1 (enhancement to soybean meal feeding) or 4 (feeding by itself).

According to the bag, it appears you get the same amount as we do. 16.3 kg=35.93 lbs.( Our bags are 36 lbs.)

I never ignore the bag rate. I read it carefully, and then double it.

I think double was the highest rate ever, but I was dropping every 2 weeks, so take that with a grain of...prill of Milorganite, actually!

I always save a coffee can or so incase I have to put down a new piece of sod. I hate having to buy a hole bag when all I need is a handful for sod replacement.

+1 Andy. My last drop is usually November, just before the winterizer.
