Leftover peat

Postby Bsteeves » October 10th, 2011, 7:29 pm

I have one cubic yard of peat leftover from my Reno. Would it be worthwhile to spread around or would it be more worthwhile to save for seeding projects next year?

If you can store it and think you're going to seed, save it. If it's going to make your garage look like an episode of "Hoarders," then spread it now and buy some next year if you need it.

Since I'd be in the latter classification, I'd be spreading the stuff, but your mileage may differ...

Yes the garage is becoming cluttered. I think I'll spread it.

Your garage and mine. I've been threatened with calling the show and getting in the Extreme Cleaning Specialists, but it's really not that bad.

And I need all that stuff, durn it. :-)

I have been keeping all my lawn stuff on one side instead of the shed for easy access because of my Reno. Starting to feel the heat. Think it's time to clean the garage.

Me, too. :-) My argument is that if we can get both cars in the garage and walk easily from the car into the house, there's no problem.

This argument is not flying too well, actually. :-)

Good luck!! I was supposed to paint the garage and fix the cracked floors. Reno or paint? I went with Reno. I will wait till spring to break the news I am doing the front yard.

I had the exact same argument 2 years ago, since then,it has become impossible to get both cars in the garage with all the added lawn junk purchased.....guess whose 60K car is now parked in the driveway getting pooped on from all the birds?

How many guesses do I get? :-)

I refuse to park in the driveway (except when Myrtle's out as she has the front of the garage near the power outlet and has to be taken out somehow!) I won't let it get that bad, and do clean up.

Occasionally... :-)

problem seems to be the 2 car garages on many newer homes are tiny compared to the old days-both shorter and narrower compared to what I am used to....no room either in front of cars to store stuff, and very little on either side.Ideal solution seems to be to always build a garage at least one stall more than the amount of vehicles you plan to put in it....for lawn equipment and workbench usage.

My wife likes everything neat and organized. So organized I can't find stuff. I now have a steel shelf in the basement for my inventory arsenal of chemicals, kelp, etc. bulk pot. sulfate in 5 gal. bucket, seed and empty tank sprayers/ hand sprayers. Even shampoo. No shower yet in the basement. Milo. & soy, spreaders in the barn. At this rate another shelf may be needed.

I'm up to two 72"H X 42"W sets of shelves in the basement - and that doesn't include any of the stuff that can handle a Winter in the barn. I go through it in mid-winter to throw away stuff that I think has expired.

Heres a question for you, do mice like grass seed?I was planning on storing my leftovers in the garage for the winter but am wondering if this will attract mice.

Yes. I put grass seed into one of those big plastic tubs for storage.
