David, I recognize some of the articles. That is part of the research that I've been reading. I'll keep an eyeball open for her name, and update you if I find anything.

Would Horse Bed Pellets be a good alternative to peat moss to cover seed during a renovation?

Probably not as their breakdown can pull nitrogen away from the soil. I've used Alfalfa combined with Peat and Penn mulch.

No. They don't spread evenly and make little piles where they break down.

Bump. :)

How much per k did you guys put down last year? I know there's no magic number.. just wondering.

Where there any noticeable differences in watering requirements?

I put down 40lb per k today and was surprised how easy it was, so I wanted to bring the discussion back to the top.

I have no idea. I use them when I have no sawdust.

Last year my OM level went up nearly 1.5 to 2%. The primary difference was the regular (every 3-4 weeks) dropping of the pellets as well as a lot of compost in August to help dead areas break down. I put them down around 30 lbs/K. I also sprayed a lot of kelp help (or equivalent).
