Re: Feeding Again...
but my soil is pretty compacted (I guess you'd call it clay type soil.....Evansville, IN). Guess I have to decide how necessary it is.
Silvz isn't real, is he? You guys made him up so that you could create a posting with "compacted" and "clay" in the same sentence - you're trying to make my head explode.
And you top it off with a Purdue logo? Oh well, the Buckeyes will take care of that...
Silvz, unless you are running bulldozers around the yard, it would be difficult to have compacted soil. "Tight" or "hard", yes - but probably not compacted. That's a mechanical process.
Could you do the "Soil Structure Test" (free!) in the "Soil Management Part 1" article? Let's see how much Clay we're really dealing with. Over 90% of the people that believe that they have "Clay Soil" find out that it is really something else.

I just saw this thread but i did a heavy milo app the 29th. It's gonna get cool around 8/15 and we'll be looking at glorious fall growth. I predict outstanding late summer/early autumn weather. Outstanding = warm sunny days and crisp cool nights.

Home Depot price matched a online ad for Milorganite @ $7.50. After filling my trunk with poo, I can feed weekly until November.

Nice! I tried that at my local HD and it didn't fly. They said they'd match a brick and mortar store price for a local store.

That's a great deal!
Can you post a link to the online ad?

Good luck. Post if it works for you or not.
Which HD did you go to? East or West? I'm surprised they matched the price because their guarantee says it excludes online purchases. Worth a shot though...

My local HD wouldn't match that either, but we have Fleet Farm (or Farm & Fleet) local to us, so their pages work. I also have their phone number in my cell phone in case someone wants to check the prices (which I've actually done twice now). Fleet Farm's NORMAL price is $7.99 for Milo. HD's pricematch+10% brings it down to $7.20/bag.
I'm not positive, but I thought Indiana had some FF's too.

Re: Feeding Again...
Hmmm. That company is in Indy so I went to a HD in Indy. I also thought that HD didn't match online prices. When I asked the clerk about the price match, she said they would match but not give the extra 10% because the ad was online. I pushed the issue bc it was a local company. She called a manager and got the extra 10% approved. I asked both if the local (Evansville) HD would also match. They said yes but without the extra 10% since it was so far away and a online ad.
That is the whole story. I'm going to ask next time I'm at the local HD. (Probably west)

Thanks!
I'll give it a try tomorrow.
How many bags did you buy?
I have a feeling they would be less likely to go for it if I came to the checkout with the cart piled high.

I've bought 6 at one time, which is almost 3 applications at bag rate. They didn't bat an eye.
