Banana water??

Postby Bentface1 » July 5th, 2011, 5:06 pm

Has anyone ever heard of soaking banana peels in water and using that to water plants? A co-worker of mine mentioned it to me and my mother said she had heard of it. Just wondering if anyone here has heard of it and/or tried it? If there was any merit to it I was thinking of putting some in the pump sprayer and hitting up the lawn...

I have always heard of using it as a potassium source for flowers. Just mix the peals in with the soil.

My mom does something similar for her indoor plants. Cut up banana peel and a crushed egg shell sprinkled around or mixed into the top few inches of soil. Then she waters. She does this once every season. I never asked her why.
