Anyone Have Access to DDG?
Does anyone have access to a grain elevator or large-scale feed supplier that carries Dried Distiller Grain? It goes under the acronym DDG or DDGS (Dried Distiller Grain with Solubles). It is the by-product of Ethanol production. I'd like to do an experiment this Winter using these. I need the amount that could be put into one of those Post Office overnight boxes. I'll pay for supplies and shipping.
The stuff is often sold by the ton, but I was hoping maybe someone could leverage a relationship that they have with a grain elevator or feed store...

I brew my own beer and have spent grains that I generally put in the compost (make dog biscuits).
Spent grains from beer brewing are usually barley, so probably a bit different from distiller grain (probably largely corn), but if you want some, I can dry some the next time I brew.

Re: Anyone Have Access to DDG?
BP, I'm mostly interested in the Corn DDG, because there has been some research into using it as a product that has nearly the protein levels of SBM, but has Poa Annua suppression characteristics. It's a lark experiment, but with more and more corn going to Ethanol, the prices of DDG are falling below that of SBM and I'd like to do a small-scale test for myself.
But I very much appreciate the quick offer...

Are you looking for the pre-brew grains or the post-brew? That might have a bearing on where you might find it.

I'm interested in the post-brew grains - that's the definition of DDG.

My local feed mill has distillers grains. I was there this past weekend...I can't recall the price but its probably around $20 for 100 pounds. I'll give them a call if you want me to. I picked up enough fertilizer for the rest of the year but wouldn't mind taking another trip.
