Tenacity effectiveness on Poa Annua pdf (lots of pics)
Stumbled across this in my internet wanderings. Sorry if it has already been posted. Some interesting results using Tenacity to limit poa annua when converting fairways to KBG. Might not be applicable to home lawns however, but it's mostly pictures, and who doesn't like that.

Thanks for the link. Makes sense that June/july is a good time to attack the poa because of the sun. Noticed that they also spread the heavy hits at 10 day intervals (instead of 7)--sounds like it would be safer. Looks like they tested under VERY heavy poa pressure so most of us would see even better results with less weed pressure.

They also recommend seeding on the same day as the round up application, and their N application rates are very high to force establishment and spread, a la jglongisland. The Tenacity seems to be more effective in the summer too, and when applied every other day! (pg 42 of the pdf). Of course this is a fairway situation, so it might not be recommended for a home lawn. Maybe Barley will do a trial for us this year

Most effective: apply Tenacity every other day (!!!)
That was a great link, like a science experiment with golf courses. Like Eriocaulon said, huge P. Annua pressure. Obviously it varies, but how long do some of the KBG home lawns take to exhaust the P. Annua seed bank after a non-elite to elite KBG renovation?

Wow, that was great. Nice to have university published research that backs up what we all figured out last year - Tenacity is an extremely effective post emergent agent against poa annua.
The part about the N was a nice bonus as it backs up what I was doing this year with regular/high N to fill in damaged areas.
This winter has been a bust (snow from Saturday is gone already), I told my daughter I'm ready for spring - if its going to hit 51 in late January I'm ready (this time last year I had 3 feet of snow on the ground with huge areas 4.6 to 6 feet high from the snowblower.

I had almost no germination in half of my Reno from to much peat moss. I used almost 1lb of nitrogen a week and my yard has almost filled in. I don't know what the affects will be this spring or summer but it sure made me feel good this past fall.
