I don't know my only effective control is to pull by hand.

Next year you might want to do something along the lines of a blanket spray around mid-April, lets say 3-4 oz/acre for the first one. Then a week later do the same, probably at around 3 oz, and then spot spray whatever is left. Then do the same around 9/15 or so.

Did you have a pre-M this fall? Definitely keep a solid barrier down both spring & fall.

Put down dimension around labor day. Bad thing is I've noticed a lot growing in the neighbors yards even though we had lows in the teens and frozen ground for a week or so.

I wonder what it really takes to kill this "annual".

Might have needed to apply that again in November. It has been very warm this season

After finally getting some real winter weather (mid-teens at night, high of 20-25) for a few days, just about any poa that was hit even once in mid-December is turning brown while the rest of the lawn is green.

There was a very large patch of it just over the border on my neighbors property that I hit on 12/23, 1x, with the remaining mix I had in my hand spray bottle (1.2 mls in a 32 oz bottle). The first time we went into the teens some of it turned. I was way for the weekend in Maine (where we had real cold, -16 Monday morning), and came back to see that entire patch looking brown and dead.

This could be the reason why fall applications fared so well in the university studies, it seems as if Tenacity's mechanism for undesirable weed death is enhanced by very cold temperatures.

Days are getting longer again, in about 6 weeks we'll be discussing pre-M again. At this point we've made it through the worst of the possible cold weather, from here on out the extra sun light helps counter whatever winter throws at us (and snow mold, at least in the Northeast, shouldn't be a worry unless you are in Northern Maine/NH/NY/Vt. Last year at this time I had about a 24" base on LI, so my poa was all protected by the snow

I remember a couple years ago posting pictures of tenacity results and saying it was the best product to hit the turfgrass industry since roundup....now you know

Thanks! They went fairly well. All the compact midnights did well short of one. The midnights did extremely well. The Americas not so great. My only regret is giving up on them so soon since individually some cultivars change with a growing season or two under their belt.

I know what you are talking about. I only had ten pots going and there were days that I would forget to water. Im sure I would have been distracted and not fallowed threw.

At what temps can Tenacity be applied? I could not find that on the label. I have several patches of PA and would like to take them out if the mild winter continues. Our vinca minor is blooming right now! Weird winter weather so far.

If it's green, you can spray it. It might be slow to die, but it'll work.

Note, in colder weather I'd triple or quadruple the rainproof time (3 hours to 9-12 hours, in other words) just to be sure. Absorption slows severely as the temperature drops.

I think this is an outstanding time of year to spray it based on my late December experience. It is called winter bluegrass for a reason...

I just applied yesterday (my first time). I will let you know how it goes. Lots for it to work on d/t the mild winter.

I have one question and one observation:

Question - If there is some left in my tank, and I really have no where left to spray it, how long will it still be effective in the tank? Will it damage the tank (gaskets, etc.)? Is there a safe way to drain it?

Observation - After filling my tank with water and syringing in the specified amount, all I could do was slosh the tank around. In the future I am going to half fill the tank, fill a glass jar with water, add the Tenacity to the jar, shake it up, dump it into the tank, then top off the tank with water. I think that would more effectively distribute it.

It keeps. I think the stuff in my tank is six months old at this point! It does no damage to the tank that I can see, either.

I applied yesterday as well (with the rest of the solution that I made up back in September) and will make another application in about 10 days... weather permitting. Highs are in the 51 to 65 F range and lows projected to be above freezing for the next 10 days.

How did you recent appliers make out? My lawn is green, with lime bits. It's a balmy 35 degrees. I am sorely tempted to apply a quick application. Reason says it's too cold, but if the grass is green... ?

If it's green, you can spray it. I'd try to double or triple normal dry time (make sure it won't rain in six to twelve hours or so), but it should work.

Weakening the P. annua when the weather still has some bit of harsh left in it might kill it better, I don't know.

All I know is I'm enjoying a late February with absolutely no P. annua showing. Yet, anyway!
