I'd wait for more experienced opinions, but IMO, it doesn't change anything. Yes, higher air temps lead to higher soil temps, but the air temps aren't the signs we're looking for.
Think in terms of soil temps and forsythia blooms. If soil temps come up earlier, then by a means get it down.

The way I look at it is if the ground freezes its going to take alot more then a week of nice weather to raise soil temps. Even if you drop early and it is gone by the heat of summer what's going to germinate anyway? Crabgrass? That's not hard to kill? Poa? Way to hot for that to happen. If anything does pop up its still young when the temps do cool off and a zap of wee-b-gone is all you need.
Now if you are having a wet cool summer like we did a few years ago that's when you need to keep your eyes open. Poa will spread miles if given cool weather and rain. In this case add another pre m down. Just don't go over what the bag says.
