January and color holding strong

Postby rutgers1 » January 8th, 2012, 11:57 pm

The difference in color between my lawn the rest in the neighborhood is getting more distinct by the day. I can't believe it is staying this green considering it was just renovated this fall. I keep waiting for things to go bad.....yet I have to stop myself from going outside and giving it another shot of iron and fertilizer!

Great! The weather's been kind of warm, though, so don't count on it holding ALL winter this year...

A co-worker had to stop by my house to pick something up and commented on the lawn immediately. He said it was the nicest around. Of course i expect it to turn by the end of january as it keeps steady in the thirtys and forties.

This is the longest I've seen my lawn hold it's green. Has been pretty mild temperature wise. Just makes me smile when I see a green lawn so hopefully will continue for a few more weeks.

I think I winterized a bit too early this year (Monday after Thanksgiving) but color is still pretty good. I see some localized yellowing but I assume I just missed those spots with the spreader. I'm actually considering a mow this Saturday...it's grown about an inch since Thanksgiving.

+1 Rutgers
and I didn't winterize until Dec 31st, because of the warm temps.
It was 65 here today. I need to mow as soon as things dry up.

We had a sideways rain here last night...Forest Gump style.

I have had a lot of rain this winter and the lawn has been wet nearly all winter. Very mild winter also. My 2010 reno area is deep green, probably the deepest green in the neighborhood. My 2011 reno area is not as deep green but that is to be expected. I applied a winterizer app with iron in early Jan.

My lawn just started to lose some green after the most recent snow. Still far darker green than any other I've seen so far around me.
