Hopefully, the seeds that I will put down this saturday will be able to make it. I'm going to correct the problematic area later.
Thanks Bina!

Done! Total of 9 bags of topsoil!
LOL! I completed around 8:30pm but will have to regrade it tomorrow. So far, about 90% of puddle went away.
I'll reseed on Saturday.
I'm sure, neighbors who saw(though it was dark) me thinks I am nuts!

What was it? compost or more sand? I noticed Lowe's Organic Valley top soil was very good quality this year. almost part compost part top soil.

Here is my extra in the garage. What do you think, should it be fine to plant seed on it?

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
to bad it's a long drive to St.Louis, could go here(http://ormiorganics.com/) for a truck load--
1-Enriched Soil is great for lawn applications. It consists of approximately a 70/30 mix of screened clay and compost, with 1% sand added.
or
2- Garden Soil is a 50/50 mix of compost and screened clay, with a small amount of sand added.
bags of dirt from Indiana should work, though. good luck.

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
I've been watching it and checking to see if it will settle down more. So far, it's looking good. But I think it's still soft since it rained again today.
Cactus, it smells really good. Earthy!
I'll try to reseed tomorrow and hopefully we'll have really good sunlight/heat!
EDIT:
August 29 Update
I didn't reseed today. I removed the top soil that I put because it was really really mushy. My neighbor had tons of extra topsoil that was given to him by the builder. He told me to get as much as I want. I still bought topsoil bag though so I can properly level it. I'm going to water it with humic acid so dirt becomes a little healthy. I'll drop the seeds tomorrow.

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
Sorry simpson, it's just now that I saw your post. I didn't see much change. Could be caused by our 40F temp. Too early huh.
Anyways, I dropped the seeds this morning at the problematic area, pressed the seeds down by my hand, and spread peat moss. The 3rd picture is after I finished spreading the peat moss.
I just found out this morning that a small part of the north side area about 5ftx5ft wasn't showing any seeds. I found out that water coming out from the downspout was washing away the seeds. I already knew that it would happen. I rerouted the black flexible 6" diameter pipe towards the driveway. I also dropped seeds at this location.
I didn't take a lot of pics since I didn't see a lot of changes. There should be some changes this weeks since our temp for the whole week will be at 75F average. I'll take pictures this weekend. Wifey wants me to start working on the family room project.

I have a question. Is it going to be next year that they will start filling in the empty spaces?

It will do some filling before winter but most will be spring time. Feed it and water it and great things will happen.

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
+1 with simpson. A lot will depend on the temperature/weather this fall. Your first real cut comes around week 5 or so; until you are cutting you don't get much spreading. If the weather stays warm through October you might see some filling in.
My late June renovation for my backyard is now spreading after about 10 weeks.
Don't make the mistake I did and try to get those spots to fill in with a spring seeding, I exacerbated a huge poa problem for myself in 2008 (I renovated my front yard in 2007). If you feel the need (next Spring) put some plugs into the larger empty areas and/or grow some pots in your basement in February and move them outside in late March (that's what I did this year with success). Don't skip that pre-M in March/April (probably earlier down in Maryland).

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
Awesome simpson! That makes me feel better. MorpheusPA told me to put half dose of TB on Sept 15. I was lucky to find a Scott's TB for only $6 at Target. He actually created a schedule for me. Thanks Eric!
Next application is on October 15, half dose again. Then on Thanksgiving(when growth stops), I've decided to put Urea at 1lbs/1000sqft. What do you think?
Cool jglongisland! I was really thinking of spreading some seeds again all over on mid Feb(dormant seeding). Thanks for the warning. Any suggestion for the pre-M product?
I'll wintersow some seeds using 2 liter bottles. I did it this year and it worked pretty well.

I'd get Dimension. I ordered the Preen product from Ace Hardware online. Forget the dormant seeding, pre-M is critical until you have a mature lawn.

So Preen is a pre-M? I remember seeing a Preen product at Lowes last year. The bag is color yello. But not sure what it was, maybe fertilizer. Can we find Dimension locally?

Hard to find Dimension only locally. Yellow bag with a blue label area. GreenLight sells it separate as well (the Preen product is actually 0-0-7).
Here is the Preen product:
http://www.preen.com/products/preen-law ... -preventer
GreenLight has a page here. I wonder how that first product works (6-8 months of protection):

I'm not going against what Eric has told you but i will be putting down a half app every two to three weeks. I am all for the urea after top growth has stopped. I will preach it to everyone i know till the end of time (thanks Gary C) Halts is another good product I have been told barricade works great also.

If half app every 2-3 weeks, aren't the seedlings to young and they might not be able to handle our feet as well as the spreader during the first second week(it's actually my seeds second week today)?
