August update

Postby s1mpl3k1d » August 4th, 2010, 11:28 pm

I have not taken this kind of shot. This is the first time I'm taking a shot of the northside but standing at the backyard.

I'm so glad that it's doing well. It gets sun from 7am until 8 or 9am, then gets sun again at 4:30pm until 6:30pm.

KBG really spreads fast!!!

Postby s1mpl3k1d » August 6th, 2010, 11:06 pm

I just want to share some pics.

Here are some new pictures I took early evening today. I'm very impressed at the hellstrip after putting 19N-P-K that came with Stonewall. It woke up the ideal grass and is now choking the poa annua especially it's weak now. I've been pulling the PAs too(holes seen on picture).

The second picture is almost exactly the same picture I posted before. It's showing the blue hue again. There was no sunlight hitting the grass but it was bright. I'm hoping the grass with the blue hue spreads more. :D

Thanks you so much!!! :D

I am so really really happy! I've been working at my front garden for the past few days and neighbors came over and asked what I really did to make it very healthy. I have a strong feeling that my April or May lawn is in their visual memory. It's because it's still in my visual memory too. If you recall, it was really really yucky! :D

We had a garage sale last week. My wife told me a lot of compliments she was told about the lawn. Her response though was: my husband lives and sleeps there. LOL! HAHAHA!

The other person said he can see hue of blue from the street. Other person said, it looks like a carpet. The other buyer said I can't believe your lawn is the only one in the neighborhood that is green, most I've seen are pale.

I'm really extremely happy everything I see it. Thank you so much everyone! :)

Looks great!

I can't see your cultivars on the mobile site. Is that dark stuff in the second pic Emblem?

Thanks Ohio2112.

Taken from the first post of this thread.
Boutique - 15%
Bewitched - 30%
Blueberry - 15%
Emblem - 40%

I am still not sure if it is Emblem. I haven't done any test yet. Once I get a chance this weekend, I'm going to pre-germinate the 4 types on a damped paper towel inside a ziplock. It usually takes only 7 days for them to germinate. Then I will transfer the germinated seeds to a potting mix. I'll take pictures.

Ooops, sorry. I haven't been checking this thread. I've been so busy with my patio project. My lawn is just fine but there are many dead blades close to the holes I made with Round Up. I have not been watering too but thanks to nature, it rained well yesterday after 2+weeks, finally. I also dropped my last Stonewall last week.

I have not taken any pics. The right side though is really nice. However, right now, it's so flat since I've been passing on it for more hundred times now with my tractor and the heavy stuff that I'm transporting to the backyard.

About the germination test, :(, I haven't done it too. I should post it on my board so I can be reminded to do it. It really shouldn't take me long.

Here is the latest pic but my intention was to take a shot of the pavers and not the lawn. This is the lawn I mentioned earlier(right side). Glad she was seen in the background. :)

After more than 1 month of neglect, and more than 3 weeks of no rain, no mowing, here is how she looks right now. I'll be able to work on my lawn again after 2 weeks. That's the duration I am targeting to complete my patio project. In fact, I spread urea this evening around 9pm. LOL. I saw a thread earlier about urea so I got excited and did it. LOL! HAHAHA! :)

The front left side which is shown above beside my patio bricks looks really really bad due to the thousand passes of my tractor and with a load of 600-800 lbs of crushed stones, screenings, bricks, etc.
The front right side

Here are some updates. I mowed the grass last week. I'm glad that my lawn is recovering after a real bad neglect.

Hi everyone! Finally got a chance to take a picture of my lawn. Work is stealing my bonding time with my lawn. LOL. :)

Anyways, here it is. It's starting to fill in. Still thin in some parts, many patches due to my RU last year. Height is still low. I've also pulled about weeds, dandelions, prickly lettuce and one that I don't know.

There's also a rat that I saw before. It's ruining my lawn and my neighbor's lawn. It's making a tunnel but above ground. It made a curvy line about 1.5 inch wide(as wide as her), about his size. I tried stepping on the thick dead hay but looks like I didn't get him. I saw new dead lines again today. Sigh :(

The red is a big plastic bucket from my neighbor's garden bed. I'm not sure what's he's trying to protect there.

Maybe because the characteristics of the grass I used belongs to the very dark green family. I remember back in 2007, when I used CGM, my lawn became dark as well.

hehehe :D

There's actually 2 red buckets there. The one on the left, in front of it is my tulip.

By the way, I just finished spreading urea. I think I spread 10 lbs over 2000-2500 sqft area, just the area I renovated.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that I only saw 2 patches of grass that are different, small area about 2 inch x 2 inch. Looks like the pulling of unknown grass last year did the trick! :)
