Ditto here. Our one real cold snap was preceeded by a good snowfall. Most of the block is brown. Mine is early-April green.

Usually it'll get forced down in February, but we'll see this year. The weather doesn't look to be heading that cold for any length of time in the next two weeks.

That's what I thought too. Usually, mid January until mid Feb here is the coldest. Last year, snow melted third week of February.

Anyways folks, help me in spring regarding weeds. I wasn't sure why some weed seedlings didn't die. :)

It never got cold enough for long enough to kill them--I still have snapdragons in a pot on the patio. They don't look great, but they're still ALIVE. Which is extremely unusual for late January. So is the green grass and sprouting bulbs, but try telling those bulbs anything...

So it looks like you'll be spraying in spring to control the weeds. No big deal.

Yeah, I saw tons of snapdragons too that are still green as well as my hardy annual coreopsis tinctoria seedlings that sprouted September.

So which inexpensive spray product should I buy? Is Weed B Gone good? Oh, on my list is Dimension. There is another one but I forgot the name. I remember Mallory told me to drop Dimension mid March, then the other product early April.

Thanks!

I use Weed-B-Gone and spot spray the weeds...depending on what you have, that may be an overwhelming job. For the three I get, not so much. :-) Area spraying is fine once or twice until you get things under control and the grasses take over.

After yesterday the grass greened even further and the crocus and aconite are definitely up. Since those are really freeze tolerant, that doesn't worry me too much.

Great! The weather went down again yesterday and today. We're below 10f right now. It snowed again yesterday but very thin.

Thanks for help! :)

Just a short update. Bought Dimension yesterday at Lesco. I'm thinking of dropping it early 3rd week of this month.

By the way folks, I still have Urea. Is there any use of this in early spring? I remember that we don't want to shock the growth of grass in early spring. So I guess, I'll just have to keep it until November?

Here is how it looks like :)

The bag you got has Dimension AND fertilizer. I thought the goal was to put down Dimension by itself in March and fertilizer when the grass asks for it?

Oh, I'll have to check if they have it. Thanks. :)

What is the difference if I use 0-0-7?

Thanks.

Ron,

The 0-0-7 version doesn't have any Nitrogen (The first zero) and won't force your grass out of dormancy or give you unwanted top growth. The version you have (19-0-6) has Nitrogen, which will.

But Turf Toes i think you put the Dimension's down so light that it hardly puts down much nitrogen. I have a bag at the house from last year i will have to look at it. On the other hand i was up by your house today i was going to do a drive buy with round up in a balloon. I almost stopped at grain and hay but i will just give it a week or more. Hey s1mpl3k1d you got any new pictures of the lawn?

Yes, I have pictures which I took just few minutes ago. I am shocked what I saw. Perfect weather today. Lot of snow melted! I'll post it later.

Thanks for the link. I looked at the alternate pic and it's very close to my pic above. Thanks! :)

Quick question. I haven't bought Momentum Weed Killer since I am still not sure. What's the weed killer choice for tough April/May weeds? Or should I stick with Momentum then after few weeks, spot spray it with Weed B Gone?
