Thuja recommendations
Hello all. I was hoping someone here (Morph?) could provide me with a Thuja recommendation. I'm looking for something to create a screen, but only about 10' max.

Re: Thuja recommendations
Maybe the Emerald Green Thuja? They're smaller, but slower growing, so I'd buy reasonably mature ones. They're also more trim so will need to be planted closer together than most other Thuja species.
Height at maturity is 8 feet or so.

So what would be the next best thing, say a bit taller than 10'?

Re: Thuja recommendations
You can keep any of them at 10' but would require you to cut the leader off yearly.
I have Leland cypress trees they grow fast and tall but can easily stay at 10' if you want.
Thuja green giants are nice but require you to cut the leader off as well or they will get taller. I think that's what Morph has.

Re: Thuja recommendations
Green Giants can be limited there, particularly if planted together very closely. They'll compete with each other and slow growth, maxing out early.
You'll sometimes be able to find other Thuja, but most will act like the Green Giant. Some you'll never be able to find at all as they're rare or endangered.
Like Simpson says, you can also trim them yearly and don't feed once they reach the height you want.

If you trim the top off they will get fatter givin the room to grow, but they will never loose there shape so i have been told.

Re: Thuja recommendations
Depends on the cut.
We have some in the neighborhood that have been hacked back so badly the shape is destroyed and I'm doubtful it'll ever fully restore itself.
But with judicious cutting and leader trimming, you won't get the Hacked Back Monster that some of them are.
