Prairifire Crabapple Tree

Postby Bentface1 » November 7th, 2011, 7:00 pm

Does anyone have one of these trees? I am looking for a smaller ornamental tree to put on the border between mine and my neighbor's property. I would like something that has a nice red color but it is hard to tell if this is more pink than red. Also, I have read that the fruit is much smaller on these newer crabapple varieties but does it still make a mess?

Yes - it sure can - it still drops fruit... BUT... if you are so inclined - you can make some really good jelly or mix it with apple juice and make cider out of it....

I think I might rather pick a Japanese flowering cherry if I didn't want to fool with any fruit dropping...

Thanks
