Timex Indiglo Watch
A bit off-topic, but topical.
Two months ago or so, I lost my Timex Indiglo somewhere outside.
I just found it buried in the bottom of the compost bin down in the wet shlocky stuff. The band's very decayed (it was leather) and the pins on one of the band sides are gone, probably why it fell off in there in the first place.
The watch, however, is perfect after a good exterior cleaning and it still has the correct time to the second.
I should write them.

ROFL. You should. Do you have pictures?
FWIW, I don't wear rings or watches anymore. I have lost too many.

Are you old enough to remember the John Cameron Swayze Timex ads: "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking."

I am, and that thought came to mind. The only thing that might have shown less damage would have been to put it in a Samsonite suitcase.
I'm going to get a new band for it and replace the lost pin. A watch that puts up with a damaging environment that well (cooking to 150, perpetually wet, turned several times) is one I want to keep and cherish.

Of course now the ad at the top of the page is for Timex watches.

Sorry, forgot to answer.
Really, there's nothing to photograph. I should have taken one when I first dug it out, caked with damp compost. Although at that moment I expected to clean the thing and find it had stopped ages ago and was completely dead. Had I known it would still be keeping perfect time, I'd probably have built a shrine to it outside!
I do wear a ring on my right hand, but never in the garden. There's too great a chance I'd catch the stone and pry it out. I always wear a cheap watch that I don't care about--either the Timex that I got on sale ages ago, or another one I got for $10 or so at a watch sale. I'd never wear my good watch out there, though!

I was actually thinking of the ad with a gorilla stomping on the suitcase. Turns out that is for American Tourister rather than samsonite (shows what I know). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C-e96m4730 I couldn't remember if there was a similar Timex ad with a gorilla or not... so I looked on youtube (everything seems to be there now) and found it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzGNCYZUOp8
As for the photo, you can always fake it before you replace the band...

That was American Tourister? I could have sworn... Eh, ditto. Shows what I know.

Re: Timex Indiglo Watch
I was so certain that it was samsonite that I spent about 15 minutes trying to find the ad. All I found was American tourister. Not much of an ad campaign if it is associated with the wrong brand...

In their defense, I don't think I've seen those ads since...the early eighties? At least the concept stuck with us through thirty years!
