Sureflo Battery Powered Backpack...
So I used it today for the first time with Serenade; it is an absolute pleasure to use.
It is much more comfortable than my assortment of Solo/Echo/SP sprayers, it didn't leak at all and stores beautifully because there is no handle.
I put down 12 gallons on the lawn and all the disease prone plants, had no problem with output.
At the highest setting I think I put down a bit too much; I'm not sure if I'll use it for herbicides (probably not).
I think ericaulon recommended a different nozzle (which I forgot to bookmark). It's hard to get across how pleasant it was. Something about the fit/size just worked great for me. Not having to pump with the arm is also a pleasure.

Word. Once you use it, it is hard to go back to a manual backpack. If mine broke down for some reason, I'd get another. Seems well built and well-designed. When products are such a pleasure to use and quality built, they are worth the money.
IIRC, it comes with a blue fan nozzle. If you want lower output, you can lower the psi or try a yellow nozzle which has a very fine spray (even some misting) at 40psi. For more output, red nozzles are what you want. I get them at Tractor Supply store. In any case, the selectable fixed output pressure will make spraying much more accurate.
Edit: they come with only the adjustable cone filter. For herbicides, I would switch out the cone and get the above mentioned blue or yellow 80degree fan tip. The cone part just pops out of the plastic head and the teejet-type tip plugs in.

Do you use it for herbicides as well? What do you use to wash it out? I have some stuff I got from AM Leonard that is supposed to clean it well.

I use it for everything. I bought some tank cleaner at Tractor Supply store and make sure it's cleaned out and run through after every use.

Re: Sureflo Battery Powered Backpack...
I used it again today to put Messenger/Harpin on all the susceptible plants and the lawn, it worked great. Then I decided to mix some iron since the temps are staying cool. I also figured it was a chance to see how well I can pace/calibrate with this versus my other backpacks. I mixed 16 oz Ferrous Sulfate, 10 oz of Ammonium Sulfate into about 5 gallons (up to nearly the top) and used the lowest pressure and tightened the nozzle to get it to mist as much as possible. I finished the entire lawn with less than a liter to spare, so I'm very excited. One interesting tidbit, when I put my tank cleaner in, even after emptying the product out, the water turned black.

Tractor Supply hasn't made it to Long Island (they probably never will). I'm going to be in Maine on Tuesday/Wednesday and I see there is one off the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough, I'll see if I can pick up the tank cleaner there as you can't buy it online. May also look at the nozzle tips.

Re: Sureflo Battery Powered Backpack...
If I weren't completely thrilled with my Chapin and Gilmour sprayers, and weren't completely enjoying the lack of shoulder and back pain, I'd probably buy one.
What does the sprayer weigh empty, approximately? And how's the padding on the back--or is it at least shaped so it doesn't hit badly?
My issue is that, at 140 pounds, I'm strong enough to lift and carry the sprayers with no issues. However, the weight over the course of an hour or three really tends to wear on me, particularly when filled to 5 gallons (or, base weight plus 40 pounds).

Wow, if you can do the entire lawn in one tank, that is huge. And if misting is what you want, try the yellow 80 degree fan tip. Nice fine spray with some misting at 40psi. Also make sure your battery is nice and charged before use. I hate it when I fill up only to find the battery is low. Thankfully, I still have the cheapo Harbor freight electric ready to go. That neutralizer looks pretty good. I think lesco might sell some also. Last time I was there, they were pushing a Solo backpack with Lesco labelling. Maybe they even sell nozzles.

It seems lighter than my Echo/SP/Solo sprayers, even with the battery. The padding is AWESOME, the straps are comfortable. This thing is more comfortable with 5 gallons than my other sprayers with 3.

How long can it run? I've been plugging it in after each use. I ran it for at least an hour this morning without a problem. Keeping a second battery around might be a good idea, any idea what they cost?
Can I get that yellow 80 degree fan tip at tractor supply?

I don't know how long they run. I'd like to say 4-6 hours, but sometimes I forget when I last charged it. I don't know if you have a newer one, but I have to remove the battery pack and plug the cable into the charger. The battery is a just regular maintenance free sealed battery but it is glued to the plastic battery backing--otherwise I have several of these batteries at home. Pretty standard size.
Tractor supply has the yellow 80 degree fan tips. Also, look for a universal wand/trigger. I think they last a couple of years and the valve seal wears out. I think they are normally $15 but I got 'em on sale for $10 the last time I was there. A steal at that price and the wand is made of metal.
