Santa Rules!

Postby andy10917 » December 25th, 2009, 1:19 pm

Two weeks ago, we had a weird incident. In my area (almost zero crime), someone stole my 4-year old, nothing-special Sears lawnmower from the barn. I'm not exactly sure what the hot-market value is for that, but I made a crack about "they just wanted me to buy a good Honda".

Guess what was under the Christmas Tree this morning? A Honda HRX217VKAA. Awesome! I actually shed a few tears. My wife said I am a very sick individual that needs therapy to shed tears over a lawn mower, but she doesn't understand - you folks would.

Score! Next Christmas you should make a joke about getting a Rolls Royce -- couldn't hurt?

That's great news! Nice pickup. Are you sure that your family didn't make the old mower disappear?

They can be creative, but they wouldn't tell the police a false story. I'll take the end result gladly...

Oh. I didn't realize they filed a police report! That certainly wouldn't be worth the risk!

I got one for Channukah two years ago (actually, it was a gift certificate made by my family).

It read along the lines of "Good for redemption of one HRX217 mower, but small print applies". The small print said that it could not be used during family time, could only be used when the rest of the family is not doing something together and all sorts of things like that (we lost it).

After I received my Honda mower for Christmas, I refused to put it out into the 125-year-old barn, which gets snow in there somehow no matter how we try to prevent it. I placed it into the living room corner (a room we rarely use). It was a joke to the whole family all Winter. Since the last of the snow just melted last Friday, it is still there warm and clean. I'm the only one that doesn't laugh at the joke.

You should wax it one night and see what everyone says.

I still like to hose mine off after I mow so I can put it away all nice and clean (although after two years it doesn't look as good).

Don't laugh, I wax my mower occasionally to make it look nice, protect the paint, and keep the sun from damaging it (since the Robomower spends hours and hours outside).

Now don't get me wrong about cleaning off the mower or even waxing it to help it wash off. I was just saying that since it is a joke keeping the mower in the living room he should start waxing it to see the expression on there face. But im sure it would be no surprise to them.

I asked if I can go to one with a nice Lawn.

Good one! You should probably stand there with a microfiber cloth, occasionally remove imaginary pieces of dust from the mower while muttering under your breath, "My Preciousssss...." and giggling a bit.

I'm missing something here.

You had an inadequate storage space (the drafty barn) and an adequate storage space (the living room).

You stored the mower in the adequate spot.

For some reason, there are people who object to this decision?

What am I missing?

You are missing nothing. Clearly the best storage spot was used, and I don't see a problem with that at all. If I could, the Robomower would have pride-of-place in the den during the winter to keep her warm and dry, but Certain People don't seem to think that's the best location for it.

That's funny, my husband is using the same logic for storing his homemade beer-brewing system in our living room... :club:
