Stihl rocks!
You will love it.

I burned up 2 ryobi's way too quick before I got a Stihl.
Plus the local dealer is a family owned lawn & garden shop. Good people.
I got my Toro mower and snowblower there too.

Good for you! I couldn't agree more about small local businesses.
Support your local small business owner who knows YOU by your name, not your receipt.

Plus, you bought genuine Toro there not an MTD chassis with a Toro sticker. (I'm not saying, I'm just saying, LOL!)

With 600+ ft of edging to do, I can't believe how much faster it went and I was only going at half throttle. Because of the bigger engine, it uses larger diameter string and it edges like a hot knife through butter. My biggest concern is how much bite it has and can throw rocks quite far. I can see why landscapers have to worry about broken windows as the machine chucks them quite a ways.

This was bought at the local John Deere tractor dealer. I still can't believe how expensive the commercial zero turn mowers are. One of them only had a 48 inch deck and was $11,599 WITHOUT the bagger which is another $1500 option   I'm sure these things will last a lot longer than the residential z-turn but even those are $2900. I want one but my tractor is only a year old. Going to be a while <SIGH>

:rotfl:
One dudes bagger is another dudes entire mower!

Last time I was at HD I saw a John Deere riding mower for $1500.
(They of course display them right on the main path to the garden area. Dirty, rotten, sons of guns. :) )
It wasn't a zero turn & I don't know if it included the bagger.
But still, the difference is pretty amazing.

I too bought a new Stihl KM 130 with the straight edger and trimmer attachments and absolutely love it!! Stihl is what the Pros use and they say they will last forever with proper maintenance. I had a Crapsman trimmer and it was junk compared to this!! I also bought the BR600 backpack blower and that thing makes clean up a breeze!!!! Enjoy your many years of edging and trimming!!!!!

I have a Stihl at my place in Maine (I think that model) and an Echo PAS 260 down here. For the life of me I can't figure out how to load the string on the Stihl nor keep it from jamming. Any chance you could shoot a video of how you open/close/load that puppy. Its slightly heavier than my Echo, but it does run better.

BTW, I have a Stihl 600 down here and am contemplating getting a blower for my 12 year old son to help out this fall if he's up to it. Not sure which one to get, my local machine shop (which has about 20 of $10-$15K commercial mowers on display which my son thought were really cool) said there is a relatively small Echo which is very compact with good power.

jg, make two lengths of 12 ft. When you wind the string, make sure you put it in the hole and then begin winding in the opposite direction. Make sure you are winding in the direction of the arrows.

When you wind the string, I make sure I always wind it with as little crossing over as possible. Wind to one side, then the other. I also wind it a little 'loose' so it doesn't bind.

Of course you can also go buy one of the speed feed heads. Stihl sells one as does Shindaiwa.

I have a push behind blower/leaf vac that is a little mini tornado for blowing off the walkways and driveway. It's too much for around the mulch beds so I'm also looking for a backpack blower. Echo makes good stuff. I'm looking at the Husqvarna blower as I've had really good luck with their chainsaws.

Mine always jams; I'll have to give it another try. What's the speed feed head? I can't find it.

Watch the video: Click here for more information

My old craftsmen would not accept this trimmer head so I couldn't use it but this purchase is going to be in the very near future for me. The landscaping community LOVES these things.
