Make-shift utility pump

Postby xxryu139xx » August 28th, 2011, 2:17 pm

well here is me overreacting to 5 inches of water in the basement. damn you irene! went all around and all the big box stores pumps has been cleaned out. all i have is a 4 gal wet-dry vac and it aint cutting it.

so here is my insane idea. can i convert my electric leaf blower and use that to pump water out of the basement? is it possible or will i get electrocuted?

try sears or other type stores for a pump? If no luck, you can always go to a garden center and purchase a pump made for fountains and fish ponds........then build a nice koi pond after the pump serves basement duty!

well 4 hours later and i'm back. neighbors pitched in and we had 2 wet vacs going at a time. then my neighbor showed up with a utility pump and made it much easier. wish i thought of sears, but i had no sears close to my area and lots of roads were closed.

In general, these don't have enough head pressure to get the water up from a basement.
