EZ Flo question
Today I went to put Mega Green in my Easy Flo and it was one big mess. I had previously put in Turf Pro. I didn't run the sprinklers much over the past month but the stuff shouldn't have gotten so lumpy. Anyhow, I think the filter is permanently clogged. I cleaned it as best I could, anyone every seen this? I wonder if the raw milk left some residue that reacted somehow.
Any ideas?

Re: EZ Flo question
You can remove that little filter inside the EZ Flo and clean it with a toothbrush (soft-bristled). Soaking in vinegar overnight may also help loosen the crud stuck in it as most of the stuff we use is soluble in water and acids tend to break them down.

I spent 10 minutes with the garden hose trying to clean that thing out. I also can't see where you can get a new one. I' guess you've had something similar happen.

Re: EZ Flo question
Yeah, kelp, if left in there, gets kid of icky and cruds up the filter. Scrubbing removes it, but I have had to acid-soak a bit to get it off as well.

Re: EZ Flo question
I called them today and they suggested vinegar as well. The guy I spoke to said if there was residual milk in the tank it could have reacted to the TurfPro, he said that the calcium in milk can cause things to clot/clump.
I soaked it in Vinegar for a few hours and then used a foam hospital toothbrush on the inside which worked quite well. Its soaking again overnight; I expect that will loosen whatever is left.

Re: EZ Flo question
You can move to a slightly heavier acid (Coca-Cola is great, or orange/lemon juice) if that doesn't quite do it.

For cleaning out the calcium from the tea kettle I have found lime juice seemed to work much better than lemon.

Re: EZ Flo question
I got it 99% clean this morning, vinegar overnight seemed to work. Seems like I should stay on top of the filter more often, especially since its all organics going through the system.

Re: EZ Flo question
I found the same thing and now clean it every time I open the system (which is at least weekly to add something to the garden). That keeps it really clean.

Yes, and they're wonderful. I injected kelp, humic acid, soil conditioner, and a normal-rate feeding into the garden yesterday. It took me about three minutes to load the canister, two seconds to touch the watering button for the garden on the irrigation system, and a half second to turn and walk away.
They also guarantee the system no matter what feed you use, as long as you depressurize it after every use (or, just turn off the water as it does the depressurization automatically then).

I have mine hooked into the main sprinkler system. If I were designing from scratch it would have an extra valve there so I could program which zones it feeds, but its not a big deal. I keep it on the lowest setting for the most part, and put different stuff in every 2-3 weeks (and a 32 oz bottle of bonide 299). Beats walking around my hilly property with hoses.

Re: EZ Flo question
I bought a new cap/main housing for the EZ flo as things were just not flowing right. Its finally working correclty again. Not happy about spending the money, but I learned my lesson and am going to clean everything (not just the filter) more frequently especially with the humates.
I may soak the old one in vinegar for a week and see if that helps. Having two is not a bad idea so I can rotate them (kind of like what I do with mower blades).

Re: EZ Flo question
Draw the vinegar through, if possible, into the cap and let it sit for a bit. That should clean it without doing any damage.

How. I figured just put it in the vinegar (entire thing) for a few days. EZ Flo said that vinegar won't harm it at all.

Re: EZ Flo question
Soaking it will probably get it into the cap, and that's much easier than running vinegar through the system to get it into the cap.
