Earthway 2170 spreader price reduced at Amazon

Postby Turf_1 » September 29th, 2011, 7:46 pm

I bought a Earthway 2170 spreader several weeks ago for $166 with free shipping. Amazon now lists it for $153 with free shipping. Click here for more information

I think it is the same spreader as a 2150 Click here for more information with a bigger hopper. My 2170 will hold an entire 50lb bag of milorganite.

I see the 2170 is like $153 and the 2150 is $157 on Amazon. so the only real difference between these 2 is the hopper? So if thats the case it would be smarter to get the larger one for less $?

I see the 2170 says 100lb spreader. does that mean it will hold 100lbs of product? Or does this reflect on the size of the product to determine how much it will hold. With Milo being so small shouldnt you almost be able to hold 2 bags in the 2170?

I'm thinking hard about ordering one, I'd buy the 2170 since its less then the 2150 if its worth the money?
Thanks in Advance,

James

Different products have different densities. one 36lb bag of Milorganite barely fits the 2150. If i could do it over again, I would definitely get the 2170 with the bigger bin.

Sweet. I'm only working on 7500 sqft buy I lay 3 bags of MO at a time over the whole property 1 in front and 2 in rear. It would be nice filling it up less and having to drag bags around back etc.

Who drags? I walk the spreader out front to refill it. :-) Using an average of 5 bags and being able to get about 3/4 bags in the spreader, I make about seven trips.

is there a significant difference when you step up to the 'commercial' grade of Earthways?

I have a 5 yr old 2050P with a broken axle sitting out in my garage with some fresh JB Weld on it, hoping the repair holds. The axle snapped cleanly in 2 right in the middle (inside the gear box). I haven't called for the parts price, yet, but since my replacement wheel & tire cost about $40 I'm not holding my breath that it will be cheap.

I'd rather not drop $160 on a new spreader but if it will TRULY last for years.......?

My 2050P is nowhere near the quality. Sure it has a large bin and pneumatic tires, but it is lightweight and doesn't fling the ferts with ease. Of course, I got my John Deere verson of the 2150 for $99 on clearance but I think the 2170 would be worth it for $150.

Are the prices for the 2170 always around 150 bucks? I may ask for it for Christmas!

I think it's just a sale price on amazon. It's showing a higher normal price

That's a great find for the 2170. I literally just bought the Brinly version of the 2150 Brinly P20-500BH just over a month ago. I wish I had waited for the 2170, the bigger hopper would be nice. However, the 2150 does hold a bag of Milo....barely. So, "I guess it wouldn't make that much of a difference."....he says to reassure himself.

I just spread an extra 50lb bag of Milorganite I had in my 2170. I tried to pay more attention how full it was with one 50lb bag this time. It got to the line above where it says Earthway, where the hopper gets larger.Click here for more information

It still had about 4 1/2 inches from the top of the hopper empty. The top section is about 19 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches inside the hopper. I don't have any 36lb bags but I'm guessing it would hold two 36 lb bags or nearly two 36lb bags.

Wow, that would be great. I love my 2150, but that extra capacity would save a lot of time. Pushing it full up my hill would be interesting however.

I was thinking the same thing, and I don't have a hill. When my 2150 is full it is kinda heavy for a few minutes.

The 2150 will save my back. :yahoo:
