Dump Cart with flat tire.

Postby gryd » August 6th, 2011, 10:25 pm

My relatively new dump cart works great but it looses air, rather quickly, in one it's tires. I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter a flat on small tires for lawn equipment. What is the best approach to repair it? Find a tube or see if they make some type of sealant that can be spayed or added to it through the valve? Thanks for your help in advance! Greg

I have used tire slime that you can find at wally world or any store for that matter. I used it on my pressure washer tires and my air compressor tires and it worked like a charm and haven't had any problems with them since. This stuff here I don't think you will need as big of a bottle though!!!

They also sell those cans of tire sealant you attach to the stem and let rip. That might work. Or take the tire in and have the leak found and plugged--any good mechanic should be able to do that.

One note: if you ever use one of those cans of sealant and later take the tire in to a mechanic, LET THEM KNOW.

Jon,
I have this one Click here for more information. Nice cart except for the flat tire. Think I paid 160 for it on sale in the Spring. Looking to get 5 years from it which shouldn't be a problem. BTW, it's way sturdier than the AgriFab I previously owned.

I never did purchase the tire slime but I took one of the tires off and brought it to a local tire dealer. He said there were cracks in the side wall resembling dry rot. I called customer service for my Universal Poly Cart and it turns out it is made by Ohio Steel. They are sending me out 2 new wheels even though the tires are not typically a warranty item. Let's see how long these last? Of course I can try the tire slime in the old ones to keep as spares!

I had a very similar problem last year, but with a Craftsman 12.5 Cu. Ft. steel cart I bought almost 9 years ago. I bought a flat free tire to replace the original tire. It has definitely been well worth the money; I don't ever have to replace a tire on that cart again. In fact, I will most likely move those tires to a new poly cart one day. In fact, I plan on replacing the wheel on my 12 year old wheel barrow as well.

I think this is what I bought.

I just used "Slime" on a wheel barrow tire 2 days ago and its sitting upside down and i rotated it fairly long 30-40 minutes of spinning let it sit spinning let it sit, Look like a moron rolling empty wheelbarrow down the street zigzagging to get the slime around the beaded area, let it sit roll it around let it sit lol OK you get the idea. Well its still holding air we'll see. It was 7.00 for 24oz bottle and it only uses 8oz on that small tire so not a bad deal although I found new wheel/tire for 10.00 on sale at menards but I wanted to give this a try since I've never used it before.
Thanks in Advance,

James

Just a quick update: Ohio Steel sent me 2 brand new tires. Sent my complaint on Monday and received the tires Thursday morning. I like it when a company stands behind their products!
