Draining gas from a Honda mower...
I had to bring my Honda out of the basement when my SuTech broke. I mistakenly filled it up pretty high and had too much gas in the tank. There is a small 10 ml bolt to remove to drain the gas, but it is in a place where you can't get a normal funnel/cup in (i tried everything). i ended up getting quite a bit of gas on the driveway.
its there a trick to this other than running the mower for an hour to burn it off? seems like you would need a 1-2 inch funnel connected to a hose, that would drain into a can/cup.

They sell a thing at depot that is a suction can for changing oil or gas in a mower. Not sure if that is what you are looking for?

Or any of the dollar stores sell turkey basters. For a buck, you'd be surprised how handy these little suckers (yes, pun intended) come in @ times.

+ Above. Siphons or cheap basters work well.

Within one week, I had the following:
1) Flat tire
2) Had the pin holds the front wheels pop off in the middle of the lawn (but that was my fault because I changed the deck height and didn't put it back on correctly)
3) Had the blade engagement lever bolt break.
All is good now new blades are on and I'm ready to mow tomorrow - I hope. Owning this thing has forced me to be much more mechanically handy (which isn't bad).

Look in the owners manual see if there is a drain on the carb. float bowl usually a bolt removal.I use an alumn. cooking foil pan for oil+filter and draining carb. Draining is best so u can get any dirt that settles at the bottom out, as well as any water if it gets in. Water sits at the bottom of the tank and carb. bowl. Another way is the hose from the tank to carb. can be pinched off and removed at the carb install a rubber plug on the carb. and put the hose in a glass bottle or sutable fuel resistant plastic container to drain.

That's what I was used but the location of the drain is terrible and I couldn't get anything in there to catch the gas as it spilled out.

Re: Draining gas from a Honda mower...
can u work from the tank side? Meaning the hose to carb? Is the tank removable from the mower? Ok I looked at one of the pictures from your original post, forget the tank it looks like a pita. Looks like you have a fuel pump which runs off engine vacuum from what I can see. can u remove that hose up to the pump? It's the hose that runs around the back of the engine to the tank, that should be gravity fed. Also if it doesn't have a fuel shut off valve maybe u can install one, I have one on my push mower Honda engine.

I saw a video online where a guy recommended disconnecting the hose before the fuel valve to drain it, next time I'll give that a shot.

Go to NAPA and for $5 get a siphon hose. Have mower high than you gas can. 5 minute job.
I have the siphon hose that comes with the hand pump thing. You put one end in fluid to siphon, put thumb over open end, squeeze the bulb and you're off to the races. This is how I change out my generator gas each year.

This is what i was talking about JG it has its own container so you can just keep the gas in it.

That way you could keep it in there and just fill it back up. I don't have one but always wanted to get one so i could change the oil in the mower.

One great thing the SuTech has is an actual tube with a cap for draining the oil. Some of the stuff on it could use some ergonomic work, but the initial oil change after 5 hours was a breeze.

Thats cool, I swear if the engineers ever had to work on the cars, trucks, mowers they design they would quickly fix some of there stupidness.

Re: Draining gas from a Honda mower...
I got a cheap plastic paint roller tray for changing my motorcycle oil. I lay it down and dump the gas in the tray then dump the tray in the firepit and let it soak into some logs. I just did it with my echo trimmer and blower that had bad gas in it. Now to put new plug, fuel, air filter in them
